Rosemarie Crusius (born Peulecke)
Date of birthday: 20. April 1954
Place of Birth: Stendal (Germany)

I am Rosemarie Crusius, born on the 20th April 1954 in Stendal.

My mum used to work as an assistant in a surgeon praxis and my father used to teach Physics and Chemistry at the Commenius School in Stendal.

During my childhood I used to play in my parents garden, together with my lovely sister Angela and some children from the neighbourhood.

At the age of 6, I started attending school. I spent my first years at the Goethe high school. In order to get my A-Level I had to change to the Winckelman College .

During that time, I met Hans, a young, norty boy, always ready to make some yokes.

I wanted to become a doctor, but that was not possible under the GDR regime. Instead, I was offered the opportunity to study Nutrition Engineering at the university in Dippoldiswalde.

Chemistry was never my strength but with some help and support from Hans, I managed to finish my studies in 1975 and got a job at the Collbitzer Brewery.

On the 5th April 1975 we had enough confidence to get married. It was a beautiful wedding and we have regretted it. And as it bounced to happen, I got pregnant in 1977. I gave birth to Lars on the 23rd February 1978, a healthy boy.

With the years he became more and more arrogant, so Hans and I decided to give him a brother or sister. We had two really nice babies. On 1st October 1981 I gave birth to Nils and Mark, again boys.

Our Family lived in Stendal, in a very big apartment, just next to the central market place. Hans bought the pharmacy from his father shortly before, so that we could move into the first floor.

After we had celebrated the 250’s anniversary of the pharmacy, we decided, like many other East Germans to move to West Germany . A relative of my uncle passed away without agreeing who would become the owner of his house. Therefore, we had the chance to move into that house, which was in Grünstadt.

We finally enjoyed the feeling of freedom. However, in order not to loose the pharmacy we decided to move back to Stendal in 1990.

After the unification we began to modernize the pharmacy. We made good experiences from the time we lived in West Germany . After the unification, East German citizens were entitled to reclaim their property, which was taken away by the Russians during their occupation. Therefore, my father was given back his father’s house, which he built before the 2.World War, in which we moved into.

After enormous renovations, we moved there in January 1993. I also fulfilled one of my dreams with this house. I built a pool in garden.

Our children moved out with their start at the university. The house became really quite, which is sometimes really relaxing, but we are always glad when they come back to see us.

Most of my day, I spent in my office or in the car. I am helping my husband. I am doing the accounts and bookkeeping work. One of my husband´s responsibilities is to delivery medicines to villages around Stendal, which is done by member of staff as well as by me.

I hope you will enjoy this website.

Best Regards

Rosemarie
